White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Constable Visit is a low-ranking member of the Night Watch, although he actually mostly patrols during the day. He is a well-known nuisance who gets on most dragons' nerves. This is a result of his obsession with worshipping a being he always refers to as Om, who most dragons regard as simply being a figment of Visit's imagination; this would be fine in itself, if only Visit could refrain from trying to persuade other dragons to worship Om too. This he commits his whole life to, constantly appearing in other dragon's caves to tell them to 'see the grace of Om' and suchlike. His full name is Visit-the-ungodly-with-righteous-messages because of his annoying habit. Why he was signed up to the Watch is anyone's guess, although some suspect that the leader of the Watch, Commander Vimes, did it simply to get Visit out of under other people's feet and also protect this hapless White dragon from being attacked by irate dragons who are fed up of his preaching.
