Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lord of the Dark Flame had a name before he became the Lord of the Dark Flame. However, he does not remember this name, and, whether out of embarrassment or otherwise, avoids contact with others in case they ask what it is.

He is called Lord of the Dark Flame because he protects an object known as the Dark Flame. It is a black gemstone that has the ability to set fire to objects, provided that the right magic is used. Only this dragon knows how to utilize the stone, but never uses it beyond setting fire to wood. However, he knows that, in the wrong hands, it has the potential to destroy large towns, which is why he protects it, hiding it in his cave behind many layers of magic spells.
