Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
User Description
It wasn't supposed to be this way. She was supposed to hatch wide-eyed and curious, not have her limp and unbreathing form pried from a cold egg that she was too weak to finish cracking. She was supposed to be welcomed and nurtured, not mistaken for dead and thrown out with the cave's refuse. She was supposed to be born of the mixing of noble bloodlines and raise generations of descendents, not grow into a poisonous thing incapable of producing life.
Although not fully a monster at heart, Cadris is consumed by jealousy and rage at the world that promised her so much before hatching but gave her so little. She follows her fellow vampire, Xiuhcoatl, in part because of the vengeance he offers and in part because they are distant kin, but mostly because he is the first being to accept her. Some of his schemes she partakes in with fierce and envious glee, but even when his darkest urges give her pause she participates anyway, for to lose him would be to lose all the clan she has.
