Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has two tails!

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This mischievous creature greatly enjoys playing pranks on his fellow hatchlings. From relocating their tiny treasure hoards to decorating them with mud while they sleep, he's always up to some type of trick... but what is perhaps his favorite trick is actually very simple. He'll wander up to a group of new hatchlings, wait for them to ask about his two-pronged tail--and then let out a terrified shriek, telling them someone must've cut it in half while he wasn't looking! This never ceases to make one or more of the other hatchlings faint, and always gives him a good laugh.
