Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It doesn’t move much, and appears to be covered in stone.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Having fallen victim to overexertion and exhaustion, this poor hatchling turned to stone before ever having a chance to mature. Formally a loyal hatchling to his human master, the poor young dragon was turned to stone defending his companion from a cruel mage. The wizard, annoyed by the hatchlings nipping, clawing and attempts to stop him, cast a spell that caused the poor dragonling to ossify, his body turning to stone while he still lived. His human master escaped with him, and he still cares for the poor hatchling to this day despite the irreversible curse placed upon him.
