Water Walkers are small dragons that are frequently found around bogs and ponds. While they are flightless, they retain the flight sacs and hollow bones of their airborne cousins. These traits, coupled with their extraordinarily long, webbed toes, allow them to stand on top of calm waters, using their small sails to propel them wherever they please. They spend the majority of their lives on the water, retreating to the tops of lily pads when the waters become too rough to float atop.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Like all water walkers in his clan, Mike meachel walker feels vulnerable and insignificant. Being a water walker makes him very small compared to the rest of his clan; he can't walk on land, he can't fly, and can't leave the small quiet ponds. Through his desperation, Mike sought ways to be independent. Like all dragons naturally have telepathy to communicate, mike diligently trained his telepathy. Eventually Mike was able to use it for other purposes. Mike can use his telepathy now also to make others tell the truth by shutting down their brain inhibitors, know an opponent's moves, and attacks by reading their brain waves and induces an illusion of pain, putting others to sleep, and by transferring his mind into another's body, taking control of that body. Mike has mixed feelings for his powers that he keeps secret. He's glad to realize that he isn't useless, but he is constantly resisting the temptation to transfer his mind into another's body and keeping the body forever or abusing it in some other way.
