Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sagescale knows how she came to be in the Scale clan. Warrior found her dying in a small wire cage on a traders cart in Africa. The trader had found the hatchling in her mother's nest, and when the female stood for a brief second, he snatched the hatchling and ran. Sagescale was starving from lack of food and water, and her skin was dried and cracking. Warrior thought she would not make it, but she took the chance of taking her in anyway. Mistress refused to pay for 'such a battered animal. The shopkeeper gave Mistress the dying hatchling reluctantly. Warrior nursed the hatchling back to health, as you see her now. She is the shyest dragon in the clan. Sagescale is Snow-scale's favorite female. Most of his children are with her. Kind of like a mate, but not bound by a natural contract like most mates are. She is proud of the fact, but does not boast about it.
