Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sansenoy is the youngest of four vampires and the first (and currently only) to be female. When she hatched, many of the dragons were surprised by her extremely pale skin.

"She seems sick." asked one hatchling.

"Maybe she is bad luck." said another.

"Bad luck! Perhaps we should throw her back out!"

In a moment, the whole cave was filled with worried voices. All the vampires in the cave had dark, ebony skin. But this hatchling was so pale in comparison. Meaning that there was something wrong. And if it really WAS a bringer of bad luck, then surely it would be best to get rid of it.

"Wolfsbane," Rune Essence shouted across the cave, over the noise, "Can't you repel evil and bad luck..."

The whole cave turned to the young vampire Dorkface who's attention was temporarily taken away from the cave entrance. "Huh..."

"Then it's decided, she'll stay with you."

"Wait, what!"

And so it was decided that Wolfsbane Dorkface would watch over Sansenoy and protect the cave from her "bad luck" aura.
