Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems shy, but loves attention.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pinkie was the smallest of a batch of five eggs hatching at the same time resulting in her quite ridiculous name. Although a valentine dragon she herself never really was a romantic and put a lot more emphasis on the broader and platonic meaning of 'love'. She preferred to stay a hatchling herself helping the other valentine hatchies to deliver cards on and around Valentine's day and leave the 'yucky' stuff to the grown-ups.
