Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Iwazu isn't polishing her scales, she is usually outside the caves, searching for natural materials that she uses to "beautify" her living space. Iwazu herself is rather fond of sweet-smelling bark, and lines the walls of her own cave with the crushed tree bark she collects. Having spent so much time searching the forests, Iwazu is rather proficient at identifying certain trees, and has memorized the locations of the species with the most fragrant bark. Because she wishes to keep the places she visits secret, she rarely lets anyone accompany her when she leaves the caves.
