Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Atrylla's history and background are a mystery to nearly everyone in her Clan.  Although several dragons have come up with potential explanations for her origins, the only thing that they actually know for sure is that she was raised by Riversong (the caretaker of the Clan), most likely for the purpose of becoming the unruly Zarathax's mate.  Of course, Atrylla is quite aware of what the other dragons say about her—and although she likes to insinuate that she doesn't care about their crackpot theories, secretly she is quite hurt by what she perceives as a lack of trust.  However, Atrylla knows that for now, she must simply be content with knowing the truth, and has chosen to join the Clan's defense force—possibly to prove to the others that she has earned a place in the Clan, or perhaps to prove that same fact to herself.  She is fierce in both battle and conversation, striking down rumors and opponents equally without mercy.
