As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Baluna, and his younger sister, Basola, have been best friends since the day they met. While they aren't actually related, when Basola came to the cave, Baluna took on the role of older brother. He found the little Day Glory drake to be quite beautiful and sweet; he couldn't help but want to protect her. He'd never opened up to anyone before, and never really talked much before her either. Having a little sister has given him opportunity to discover himself and what he enjoys. However the thing he frequently rediscovers he enjoys the most is spending time with his adopted sister.
