And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ariele the Pumpkin Expert is a frozen pygmy hatchling, abandoned into the cave as a hatchling. Ariele is a very quick dragon, and during her time in the abandoned pile, she nimbly dodged all of the greedy dragons that attempted to steal her for their clan. However, as it was being close to halloween, there were pumpkin decorations near the pile, and Ariele, running away, darted into it. Eventually, she was found by Avignant of Cicon II, and to convince her to leave her shelter, he went to his clan and returned with a miniature wild pumpkin that today still serves as her home. From then on, Ariele adored pumpkins and learned all about them from wise pumpkin dragons she occasionally meets at the abandoned pile. Many dragons began calling her Ariele the Pumpkin Expert for her expertise. She has even started her own farm, using sticks to hoe the farmland and carefully planting seeds. Her only wish now is to learn how to make those delicious pumpkin pies.
