Kingcrownes are a mysterious and proud species, possessing some of the most beautiful and reflective scales of all dragons. Despite this, what is sought after most is not their scales, but the silk-like hairs that grow along their head, neck, and elbows. The hairs themselves have a magical shine, and are thought to have powerful healing properties when used in potions. The hairs of a Kingcrowne are even believed to bring good fortune to those who possess them. Though it is obvious that these dragons possess magical abilities, it is still not entirely clear what they are fully capable of. Most of a Kingcrowne’s time is spent grooming itself, keeping its scales and fur in top condition.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Goldencrown is incredibly vain, even for a Kingcrowne. Named for his crown of horns that he is always preening, he hates humans for harming his kind and trying to mess up his hair. However, he does have rare bursts of affection for his caretaker. Other than her, if you dare to approach him, you're toast. Literally. The two have a symbiotic relationship: She stops and helps him preen, he allows her to fly on his back. Sometimes he'll fly with her for two minutes, other times for hours. He even saved her life, protecting her while she recovered from the dreaded Dragon Pox. Goldencrown is the most fickle Kingcrowne you'll ever meet. One thing is for certain, though: Don't get on his bad side! As the old saying goes: Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
