Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

An ancient dragon, Shadow Chen is feared and regaled as a vicious, powerful fighter and unrelenting adversary. Blindly loyal and fiercely protective of his human partner, Raven, he will fight to the death to protect him. As his human partner has aged and settled down from his days of combat and battling, so has Shadow Chen, and for the first time in centuries his age is beginning to show. The time eventually came where Shadow Chen was outnumbered and betrayed in battle by a loyal ally, and after taking a devastating attack meant to kill his partner, Shadow Chen passed in his human partner's arms. Through a miracle of magic, however, he was revived, and with the vigor of youth continues to protect and care for his human master.
