Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

If Coaltip was ever found screaming and cursing violently at the ocean, nine times out of ten it had something to do with her mate, Longneck. Her mate was by no means an unfaithful companion, but Coaltip was such a suspicious and jealous creature that any small or harmless act will almost always be mistaken as proof or an act of unfaithfulness. Such suspicion will often times lead to Coaltip accusing her mate of cuckolding her, which leads to Longneck taking refuge in the depths of the sea, and Coaltip screaming and cursing about on shore. However in due time, Coaltip would often times soon realize that she had been wrong of accusing her mate, and the two would usually make up and be fine until Coaltip was given another reason to suspect her mate of his unfaithfulness.
