This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Due to his level head and air of authority, Five to One Direction is regarded as one of the wisest in the clan. As a result, most are reluctant to approach him, assuming he will shoot them frigid glares and curt replies. But in fact, he is astoundingly noble. This trait of his did not change even after his firstborn, November 22, was destroyed by the clan owner in a gruesome accident. But Five recognizes that his son's demise was a misunderstanding and holds no grudge against his beloved custodian.

Five started off in the clan as being a clan Guardian, but quickly rose in the ranks to become the leader of The Guardians. The Guardians are a faction within the family whose duty is to protect the group from danger.

Naturally, being head of such a critical task can be tiresome for even the strongest of dragons. She Who Splendors, Five to One Direction's soul mate, helps keep him grounded and content at all times.
