Royal Crimson Dragons are so named due to their massive size and confident, regal bearing. Most of the time they are laid back, ignoring non-prey creatures smaller than themselves, although they will occasionally take fresh kills from other dragons as a reminder of their place in the social order. Although there are few other dragons large enough to pose a threat to Royal Crimsons, they have little tolerance for potential rivals and will fiercely defend their territory from such intruders.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fox Bronze originally dwelled in the sacred temple that Lion Gold and Wolf Silver once called home. However, Fox Bronze harbored an unquenchable desire for Wolf Silver. When his advances were rejected, Fox Bronze's heart grew bitter. Believing that Wolf Silver would accept him as a mate if her closest friend, Lion Gold, were out of the picture, Fox Bronze sought to remove his perceived competition by making a bargain with the evil Devidra, who sent one of his zombie minions to the temple to kill Lion Gold. When this plot not only failed but also got Lion Gold and Wolf Silver banished from the temple for destroying the zombie dragon, thereby violating the temple laws against killing, Fox Bronze also slipped away, out of fear that his deceitfulness would be discovered. Ever since that day, Fox Bronze has aligned himself with Devidra, believing that if the Cavern Lurker's plans came to fruition, Wolf Silver would have no choice but to become his mate.
