Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Sieesta loves nothing more, as his name suggests, than taking long naps during the warmest hours of the day; finding a rock bathed in sunlight and curling up for a snooze. He is very cheeky and playful, and will often try and confuse humans by imitating the call of birds near his home-his favourite is a blackbirds call-, only much louder so that it sounds as though there is a giant bird somewhere in the forest. Sieesta is extremely friendly and will even let people who visit him, if he knows them well, give him a scratch behind his ears. His is also somewhat vain, preening his wings when they need no preening, showing of his flying abilities in front of the females of his breed and generally thinking himself better than all other Drakes. However, he isn't afraid of getting dirty if it means he gets to eat; another of Sieesta's favourite past times.
