Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Varekai is one of the oldest members of the Amashi clan yet he has yet to breed with any of the females. It is not that he has never liked any of them but simply that he doesn't like the risk of another magi dragon being around. He likes his high rank and fears that another magi dragon may affect that. There was once a female magi but she didn't stick around once Varekai was born and took off into the wild. Despite all this, Varekai is not a violent dragon. He uses his magic only to keep his clan safe from harm. He is a little ignorant and proud but patient with squealing youngsters. Perhaps one day he will find a female that he can bond with. Until then he will continue to guard the clan full time.
