Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This dragon's name is so hard to pronounce that most of his fellow dragons call him 'Qwert' or 'Q'. It is rumored that he came from a faraway land, where all of the dragons are named such names and know how to say them. Regardless of his origin, Qwert is actually a very fun fellow who likes to have adventures in the dark forests of the eastern part of his clan. Even though there are wild dragons and other menacing creatures in these woods, he never seems to get hurt or even attacked by these uncivilized dragons. And although Qwert refuses to reveal exactly how, some suspect that his name is so frighteningly hard to pronounce that when Qwert says it, all of the hostile creatures flee in fright!
