Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Heterograph is working his life's dream: he's the owner of Lil Mofetta's only all-you-can-eat establishment, for dragons and the occasional human who can't or don't want to find their own food. With his magic abilities, business acumen, love of soup, and many friends and connections, he was able to open a restaurant in an unforgiving environment and keep it open with little trouble. The building front is yellow and green and has a big, attractive sign that says Lil Mofetta All-Can-Eat-You Diner, which one of his artistic buddies proudly painted. Too bad his buddy is illiterate, and Heterograph knows she put in a lot of effort copying text she couldn't read, so he feels bad about replacing the sign.
