Desipis Dragons are an extremely dangerous breed, synonymous with the paths of desolation they leave in their wakes. These gargantuan beasts are infamous for their innate ability to control and manipulate the minds of others, which they use to pulverize the sanities of their foes and forge false memories. This power is especially effective on the foolish, and only the strongest-willed individuals have been known to resist a Desipis’s cunning. Most who anger Desipises do not live to tell the tale. Desipis Dragons are especially feared for their uncanny power of absorbing the magic of others with the fire they breathe and converting it into the bright reserves of crystallized mana that decorate their bodies.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Samhain Tarot is the matriarch of the Tarot family, and she reigns with an iron fist. Her fierce, unapproachable demeanor has earned her a dark reputation, a reputation that she relishes. She decided that she would take no mate save for the most powerful of dragons, and she stated that 'love' would likely have nothing to do with her choice. In the end, she chose a Guardian of Nature named Mata Nui as her mate, and she will never allow any other dragon to even attempt to woo her. While Samhain is a cold and cunning dragon, she does have her gentler moments. She holds her fellow Desipis dragons in high regard, as well as the Black Marrows, Shadow Walkers, and Guardian Avatars. She views most other dragons as being weak and unworthy of her attention. Samhain has a particular dislike for dragons who are openly emotional and cheery, and she reserves her highest respect for dragons that display strong maternal traits, such as defensiveness and patience.
