Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sugar hails from the warm volcanic regions of Valkemare and is accustomed to harsh heat and ash; she is lethargic and moody in the cold of winter. Supposedly she is named 'Sugar' because of her love for the sugarcane plant, which nobody has been able to confirm or deny, though a rumor persists that she has a stash of the sweet stalks hidden in her chambers. Her magic stems from elemental darkness, and is used mainly to cause tiny bouts of chaos, such as causing a small rock to fall from the ceiling or a tree branch to break. These small outbursts are usually reserved to her less than joyous moods, and are sporadic occasions. She has never used her full ability, magically speaking, so her limits are not certain.
