Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

L'auriano is the firstborn of Sieliano and Laurent'a and half-sibling to Llewelkynne and K'Len. He has only met Llewelkynne a couple of times and had the distinct impression she didn't think much of him. He likes K'Len and finds it a little frustrating that all of his blood family who are around regularly, including his parents, have a completely different wake-sleep cycle than he. Just when he's awakening and feeling at his best, they're all turning in or turning immobile.

As a result, he's much closer to the other Sunrise dragons of the cave than his family, and also to the Guardian Dragon Kiliki and the Hellfire Wyvern Rhiani, self-appointed protectors and surrogate parents to all of the hatchlings who were either abandoned or couldn't be cared for properly by their parents. It has left him feeling just a little different and left out more often than not.
