Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A darkness descended upon the land one Halloween. No dragon had ever seen anything like it: a pitch-black mass that swept across the ground and sky. Some were curious at first -- until the ones first swallowed screamed and fell. The vampires found themselves unaffected and heroically braved the darkness, managing to save most of the Swallowed.

     Time passed, and everyone had started to put the horror behind them.

     One day, a vampire fell ill. Despite the best efforts of clan heads Smiling Rayflo, Sharp Rayfell, and Serious Charley, almost every vampire began wasting away. Many have turned to dust. Their peaceful clan, where all the adults worked together to raise hatchlings communally, where no one took more blood than needed or killed without warrant, is slowly dying out.

     Only one vampire seems immune. The clan heads named him Vassalord Revival and charged him with continuing the Vassalord clan's ways whenever they do pass. Revival accepts his duty as a great honor.
