Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

If there is anything close to royalty in the Dewsong clan, Lady Nickelbottoms is it. Her father is the Chief Dragon, and her mother is one of the most important dragons in the clan, having laid the eggs of so many of the clan's dragons. Lady Nickelbottoms tries to be polite but because she is larger than other Silver Tinsel dragons, she often knocks things down--even her fellow cave mates. For this reason she resides in the outer caves with the more inexperienced dragons, but this doesn't dampen her attempts to become the princess she's rumored to be.
