Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Alajos knows that if he fights in ordinary ways, he won't be better than older, more practiced dragons for a long time. As a result, Alajos is always testing out new ways to get an upper claw against others, especially Blacks. On the ground, he'll try to grab them in his wings to keep his claws free, or in the air he'll dive-bomb backwards to catch his enemy on his dark horns. He sees every portion of himself as a potential weapon and fights with great vigor—giving up is not an option. Instead, he just feels he has to try and find a new tactic.

This endless vein of new tactics lent itself well to his greatest challenge—wooing Ossidiana. The powerful dragoness often refused his advances, whether he played hard to get or came straightforwardly. He refused to give up chasing her, switching from trying the romantic to playing the cool-headed bad boy. In the end, she wasn't impressed by a tactic, but it was instead his determination that brought the two together.
