Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

On dark, moonless nights, a distant unearthly shriek may sometimes be heard shattering the quiet. Woe to any who hear this terrible sound close by, for much like the banshee's wail, it portends imminent death... it is the sound of Dihena flushing her prey from hiding. Fortunately for the twilight traveler, there is said to be an early warning sign that she may be stalking you -- any animals or insects nearby will all mysteriously fall silent.

    This pale, lean phantom hunts the outskirts of the Talynwaere protectorate, preying on dragon, beast and folk alike. It is fortunate that her kind does not need to feed often, and much time often passes between hunts. Feared and reviled by the local colony of dragons, she and her "mate" Morthelion have dug out a lair of their own some miles away, and spawned a small coterie of vampires. Occasionally they steal into other colonies and infect poorly attended eggs, adding them to their vile progeny.
