Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It can fit right in your palm.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Microfossil loves worms, not as pets, but as snacks.  Whenever it rains, he can be seen scurrying to pick up any worms which have been driven to the surface.  He then takes his prizes to one of the magma dragons who live nearby, and lays them out on its hot scales, turning all the worms into fried worm crispies, which he devours as soon as they are done to his liking.  He often gains many little burns in the process, but he doesn't care.  No one knows why he didn't grow up, but many suspect a magi dragoness to be at fault.
