Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Briage is much like her father, Cranos, regarding physical features: she is also vulnerable to sunlight and likes to be active in the afternoon or at night. Due to the ferocious nature of several Nocturnal Dragons near her,—in particular, Kratol Nightspy,—she has become a "dracophobe", and doesn't talk to any dragons at all. Mostly, her only friends are Ochredrakes, and she has adopted their flamboyant behavior. Deep inside, though, she wished she had a permanent mate, who understands her. Because of her fearful nature, she is looked down upon and is considered an outcast. Mostly, she doesn't realize the fact, that she is vulnerable against virtually all dangers, since nobody really supports her—she's all alone in this big world.
