Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Iriria's egg was a gift from a higher being, and Rose accepted the gift happily. Iri was a playful hatchling, and took that into adulthood. She loves her fellow dragons and does not let her unusually shiny scales bother them. She tries to cover herself in the presence of light sensitive dragons who find the glittering shine an annoyance. The Luminas love her and constantly pester her on how she got her scales to shine so brightly. Iri says that she was simply born that way, that nothing can make the scales change. Her first suitor was a male Gaia Xenowyrm from the depths of the Jungle. Iri immediately took to Q and had several children with him, both of which were adopted by a kind friend of Rose. Despite Q's desire, Iri is not the type of dragon to choose to settle down with any one mate and already has her eyes set upon a beautiful young Caligene named Icsale. She is unsure how to progress, since it was Q who started her first courtship. Iri can be a very shy dragon.
