Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Iolythend ThunderStorm (after the gemstone: Iolite) was the 85th dragon to join the clan cave, the second gift from the Lady Sweet, further confirming the fledgling friendship between the two clans. The firstborn son to the thunderous Lizzy, his mother sent him to the clan cave to be its first real guardian; as far as she was concerned, no dragon can fill the void of the Thunder, and thus, the clan needed such a protector. The Clan Mother gratefully accepted the offer, and with much excitement, received the precious eggling from his caretaker. None of the clan dragons doubt his strength or power for it seems as if he possesses control over the very fabric of the heavens sizzle and is able to call upon it as he wishes. Iolythend holds his duty as protector above all other considerations, striving to live up to his mothers grand expectations. He is an extremely proud, noble, and rather intimidating dragon who silently patrols the sky and watches over the clan cave and all its members.
