Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Claus does not like to leave his Cave. He does, however, feel that it is his responsibility to make the world a better place. While Claus can not do much, he has a fine eye for detail and has practiced a very unusual form of magic that allows him to manipulate small objects with ease. Claus uses his skill to make hatchlings happy by gifting them with toys every year. The idea for toys came when Claus was visiting a human village and saw how happy their children were. He thought that he could do the same for the young dragons he lives near. While Claus does not leave his Cave to deliver the toys, his brother, Winter, reports on how happy the young hatchlings are to receive them each year.
