Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Koukakalan is a strong-willed fierce warrior who is also a very tender mate. He gets along with most of the other dragons in the cave and tries to keep order and peace while still maintaining a nice atmosphere in the cave, although he fails to do so most of the time due to his nature as a black dragon.  His main job is to protect the hatchlings, though if he speaks to them he usually just ends up making the babies cry due to his inability to effectively communicate with the young dragons. Saddened by his inability to make the hatchlings happy, he does the one thing he knows he can do, protect them from harm. He spends his time roaming around the cave, making sure that nothing can harm the baby dragons inside.
