Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Princess Naya of the JavaTiger's shimmer scale court is, to put it bluntly, a Diva. There is simply no way around this, although she would argue that she simply cares about her appearance as any dragoness would do. She spends many long hours grooming her already gleaming scales so that each and every one is perfect. Some of the dragons of the clan, including a few of her fellow court members, insist that she is more vain than any lumina of the clan. Indeed, when she isn't arguing with the luminae females over who has the lovelier scales, she is actually very good friends with them. Some view her as somewhat air headed, and even say that the only use she has for other dragons is as someone to admire her;  but that isn't quite true, she actually does have a deeper side than what most see, and she actually does care about the dragons of the clan, even if they don't always understand her. The fact is that looking her best at all times is important to her and she views style as an art form.
