Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Much like Poison IV, Cloudsweep is very unsociable—but for much different reasons.

After a nasty incident when Cleod accidentally sent a lightning bolt his way, thinking he was an intruder, Cloudsweep gives his scrollmates a VERY wide berth. The closest he will come to the cave is a small, shallow "nest" that Basalti dug for him out of the rocky side of the mountain, high enough for the clouds to hide him.

A long scar down his flank is the only outer evidence of that terrible mistake, but the scars he bears in his mind are much deeper. Even Shiverwynd could not heal him completely. It is doubtful he will ever be a true member of the pack—but he guards them from the skies all the same, and his "alert" cry can be heard for miles.

Breezeling has made advances toward him, and tries to get him to play with her when the weather turns frisky, but he is simply too young to let the past go yet. Perhaps with Shiverwynd's continued care, someday he will learn to trust again.
