Turpentine Dragons are named for the oil that covers their scales. This oil resembles turpentine in odor and is mildly toxic; it will not kill but it burns to the touch and will cause illness in anyone who ingests it. Turpentine Dragons roam in large packs, often stealing food from larger dragons, though they are able to hunt for themselves if necessary. Many other breeds consider Turpentine Dragons to be pests, so they primarily breed among themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bozko became Iwa's second dragon fellow when Bozko was just a hatchling. While his large pack were grazing in the area, he went off into mischief and managed to get himself tangled inside a shrub in vines. His pack had not seem to have heard his cries for help and the pack moved on. Even his parents seemed to have not made an effort to search for him. That's when Iwa, a young human girl, found him. She attempted to handle him but quickly pulled back from the chemical burns of the toxic oil slicked over his tiny scales. Bozko had panicked at first, especially when the young girl tried to handle him again; this time, braving the burn until he was finally free. The young Bozko, even at his age, was wise to know that Iwa could be his mother since his biological one didn't help him like this girl had. Under Yagete's guidance, Bozko learned to control his toxicity. He has recently taken a liking to the Lumina dragoness Hepuakanaie, he thinks he's a dolt for only talking about his adventures.
