Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Fecewes is, like his father, a very good writer. Unfortunately he is also, like his mother, a very good talker. Loving the sound of his own voice above anything else, he can accordingly blabber for hours at anyone and anything--whether they care to hear him (or even CAN hear him) or not! His father is a tad worried about all this, and is trying to instruct him on the finer points of communication (it's best done when it has a purpose!), but his mother thinks it's a riot; the two often spend whole hours simply chirping and chattering at each other accordingly!
