Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pyroclastia was found abandoned by Lurhstaap, sick and weak, too close to death to be saved in any normal way. Lurhstaap lifted the hatchling and rushed her to Blood Knowing, who quickly cast a spell of suspension upon the young creature. At first, Pyroclastia raged against her fate, demanding to be slain as she should have been left to die in the first place. Over time, she began to recognize the potent mystical power her unusual state of being gave her access to. By the time Inverse approached her, asking her to be Maiden in the Coven, Pyroclastia didn't need to think about it. Now she is a deceptively youthful priestess whose childlike smile conceals ageless mysteries of growth, spring, and renewal. She has never fully overcome her inner rage at the ones who let her get sick and then abandoned her to die, however, and her wrath is as potent as her Coven-sisters' when roused.
