Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Speed is Thy Name is a part of a trio of friends. Tail of Speeding Lizard, Speed is Thy Name, and Whiplash at Noon are all whiptail dragons who love to run as much as the others of their species. Speed is Thy Name used to be the fastest of the three friends, but a tragic incident involving the insane dragon Razor of Leaf left both of her hind legs permanently weakened. Although she still runs with the other two, she can't stop herself from lagging behind. Tail and Whiplash keep a slow pace when running with Speed, but she feels bad about holding them back. She is a quiet, solemn dragon, but very loyal and selfless.
