Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Despite being a Vampire -and having a lineage to further hinder a celebration otherwise despised by the Samhain dragons- Venomnaw loves nothing more than to celebrate the longest, darkest day of the year; the Winter Solstice.

The Samhain dragons "celebrate" Yule by killing a wide array of eggs to show their disgust of this holiday. Venomnaw was however, the only successful one to be converted into a Vampire, a mistake. Finding this a sign that this dragon was destined to be a misfit his entire life, threw him out into the cold.

A few hours later, a Yulebuck had spotted the "out of season" egg and, because Winter Solstice dragons are benevolent, decided to take the egg with him.

Much controversy arose throughout Venomnaw's life, due to the fact he was different. Regardless of his outward appearance, Venomnaw celebrated Winter as enthusiastically as his adopted family and friends. His loves to decorate the cave and eat the smoked fish from the feast.
