Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Orlaera is a trickster—more benign than, say, Jalgafen, but still not someone that most dragons would choose to spend time with, for fear of ending up victims of one of her jokes.  She chooses her targets carefully, looking for the arrogant, the foolhardy, or the cruel—those she feels could benefit from being taught a lesson.  In Kioren's case, for example, she cast a spell on him that caused him to relive the pain of all those he'd failed to treat, in the hope of teaching him compassion.  After a trick that backfired nearly cost Orlaera her life, she resolved to give up meddling, a resolution that only lasted until she found herself at the Goldenmage Assembly shaming their current leader into retirement so kinder, wiser Tynef could take over.  Orlaera now lives in Dragontown with her mate (and one-time project) Cyffaro, where she helps keep visiting Goldenmage Assembly trainees in line (and has Tynef's approval to use her tricks to shame them into better behavior).
