Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Alanna Blackavar is one of the JavaTiger Clan vampires, all of whom do the bidding of the most noble Countess Mina Montague. They have sworn fealty to her and to house Montague and their unending hatred for house Capulet; it was either that, they were told, or be driven from their territory. As one of the females of the group, Alanna is allowed a position of relative privilege. Unusually for a vampire, she has a nature that seems, at first glance anyway, mischievous, playful even.... which gave rise to her nickname. Underneath that facade, however, lies a dark side. Of all the 'wild' vampires of the JavaTiger clan, Alanna has one of the nastiest tempers. Worse still, she has a very long memory and is known to plot for long months, years sometimes, in order to achieve revenge for some slight, whether real or perceived, all the while engaging in minor acts of malicious mischief against whatever unfortunate individual has gotten on her bad side.
