Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Newa is one of a group of many Glory Drakes who make their homes amongst populated human settlements. Their friendly, peaceful mannerisms made the breed an easy choice for humans to introduce to their colony to keep insects and small pests at bay. Newa herself is similar to the majority of these drakes—she nests under the porch of an elderly farmer, who feeds her a sweet sugar cube each morning before she watches over the field and snatches up pests. When she pleases, the farmer lets her sleep on top of a soft bed of furs, safe under the lantern-light until daylight rises again, and Newa goes to pick off the pests.
