Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Avignant of Cicon was never the best,

indeed, he was often far below the rest,

but twas him and not the others who basked in glory,

for this is his story:

Avi was one of the snatchers,

bringing back eggs for his cave,

and often he suffered bites and scratches,

for he was very reckless and brave,

fighting off thieves and scoundrels,

attempting to steal his precious eggs,

that he snatched from the biomes,

and the abandoned page, where they were left out for dead,

but by far Avi's favorite place,

happened to be the forest,

where the birds sang sweet melodies,

and the water was the cleanest.

So it was no surprise that Avi was,

wandering around one day,

when he saw behind a bush, a hidden leetle tree!

Well, Avi wasted no time,

it was a rare leetle tree!

He quickly snatched it away,

he knew it would give him much glory!

And so it was that he brought back,

something beyond belief!

All the dragons loved him for,

giving his clan the first -- and only -- leetle tree!
