and she- she's gone
pops out of the frame
but knows are precious to her
pop out of the old brick
But the door refuses to open
She pounds helplessly
The handle of the front door
supposed safety of your home
Not indifferent
but hungry-eage

begins to glow red-hot
to take everything from you
to burn down your life
one by one
on the smoking wood
the metal bending and distorting
in any sense it can reach
Can you hear
as it melts
as their voices go quiet
From the crack underneath
the crackling promise of kindled
despair that it whispers

she simply sits there
Her home is being eaten alive by
The photos of her family

through her body
the dancing lights emerging
She pushes all her might into it
around her front door
Does she smell it
the rising smoke
The welcome mat ignites utterly
whose faces seem indistinct
the inferno that is now her home
The glass cracks and shatters
turning from a gentle smoulder
A slow and subtle scent
and- is that hair
to a gout of flame
peppering her
Limping and desperate
with razor-sharp
shards
cutting her face to ribbons
and whatever strange compulsion
holds her in place
Does she hear it
the distant roaring
