The Secret of Negankerdak
Forever I will be
With wondering mind
To spend ourselves
To the dwarves
But could not to them
Broken Dwarves
Ages have passed
reveal the reason
since Earth-
Wrought was lost
And for our people
I was commended
Yet do you suppose
great was the cost
Quests were begun
they could have perceived
where Unforged was sought
At rumors of finding
for another's sake
But not for dwarf
That I came for their good
fierce wars were fought
We are now broken
would they have believed
our great ones have died
Lightcatche
r is gone
my use intended
Mordaar amazed
in grief set aside
Yet when a dwarf sees
with a trembling hand
The diamond black
His heart
and a heart that yearned
My fate and yours
Another there is
Pressing his palm
remembers Negankerdak
Mordaar Morthain
on the granite brand
in the Noddyrock mined
Eagerly delving
I must employ
Unsealed the door
for treasures to find
This stout-heart
ed dwarf
where a Sword lay hid
was humble and true
Honest souls like his
each we take
The world to save
Warily whispering
in our day are few
He followed what seemed
as he did
a black diamond trail
But it brought him near
or to destroy
Modaar
the accursed Black Vale
Corrupt full of snares
It was no demon
deception its mark
A deep crevice caught him
seeking you
Mordaar's steps toward
Silent in awe
Think not this blade
but a Guardian true
he fell in the dark
Mordaar came to a
I see it now from
cave of light soft and dim
To Irna's own heart
as yours to own
his very own hue
his fall had brought him
With fountains and pools
Negankerdak
here
with airy light-strea
ms
And wells for wisdom
the Sword in his hand
Think what hand
long laid to rest
and inspired dreams
His footsteps soft
By mighty Rilfar
he trod the smooth floor
And found in the wall
made you flesh and bone
a Guardian blest
a small gleaming door
With a sign of a moon
Then a soft voice
of deep earthen brown
And a sign of a sword
home he turned
Aware it was
Are not our days
he heard within
the full moon did crown
Then spoke a deep voice
Light and dark
within his mind
Firm as the rock
by another cast
heavy and thin
yet noble and kind
Guardian Rilfar
Negankerdak
by
Know little dwarf
it was from Vordan fear
not his to command
In this world
no hand made
That I hid away
what you will find here
A blue light shining
It was dwarven conceit
beyond measure
so deep and vast
within its blade
That prompted me
to remove their treasure
Negankedak
Too quickly I came
in far off season
