Valdemaran Legend
Sun and Shadow - Meetings
Why blame them if they pray for
So now they
A spell it cast upon her
She dances in the shadows
Like a shadow is her hair
And she followed in its wake
Her eyes hold midnight captured
She is perilously fair
meet at twilight
To where Sunsinger sang it
The woodlarks sing the measures
That her flying feet retrace
All unheeding by her lake
She dances - in the shadows
Like a dream of darkling grace
Time or death to bring a cure
Though they only
She saw the one that she must
He sings in summer sunlight
To the cloudless summer skies
Love until the day she died
His head is crowned with sunlite
And the heavens match his eyes
meet to part
And bitter tears for bitter love
The wildwood seems to listen
To the singer's gladsome voice
The Shadowdance
r cried
He sings in summer sunlite
And all who hear rejoice
By Mercedes Lackey
For the sake of bitter loving
Sad meetings
He saw her and he loved her
She - dances in the shadows
For a doom upon her lies
And he knew his love was vain
If the sunlight shines upon her
The Shadowdance
r dies
Sadder partings
For he was born of sunlight
And on his line is this curse
laid - That once the day is sped
And must be the shadow's bane
In sleep like death he lies 'til
Once again the night has fled
Nonetheless
they will endure
And the breaking
So ere the curse could claim him
One evening in the twilight
That is neither day nor night
Then he shed one bitter tear
The time part bred of shadow
And partly born of light
of each heart
To know his only love must
A trembling Shadowdance
r
Heard the voice of love and doom
Also be his greatest fear
That sang a song of sunlight
Thru the gathering evening gloom
