Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Hatchlings spend a relatively long period of time as hatchlings, from 100 to 200 years, before they mature. Adolescence is usually marked by a hatchling's wings growing in, but not all breeds of dragons grow wings. Baby dragons all look very similar, but once they hit adolescence, they change very fast, they mature to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Black dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Beautiful and deadly. Those are the two words that best desribe Kythren. Extremely fierce, this dragon will not shy from anything to achieve her aims, especially when a fight is involved. Kythren loves a good fight, and over the course of her life she has become quite the expert in all manner of techniques which have saved her life many times over. This does not however make her some evil-doing-princess-snatching-peasant-eating monster. Kythren can tell when a cause is just and will willingly pledge herself to it, even if this does not by any means make her an altruist. She has found her soul-mate in Zathor, who is the father of all her children.
